Myth #1: You have to lose weight to love your images

The most common myth of boudoir is that you have to lose some weight to look your best in boudoir images. This belief originates from negative internal voices, and guess what? It’s not true.

In fact, boudoir is a powerful tool to quiet those negative internal voices that hold us back in life. A skilled boudoir photographer will make you look amazing, and highlight the curves you love.

Plus, if weight loss and a healthier lifestyle is a goal for this year, boudoir may help you achieve success. When you feel better about yourself, making healthy choices is no longer a chore.

Myth 2: Some people are naturally photogenic

Many people worry that they’re not photogenic enough to look amazing in photographs. At Studio Newport, we don’t believe in being photogenic. We  If you don’t love yourself in pictures, it’s because you weren’t prepped and posed, and in front of the right photographer! We have never met anyone you couldn’t look amazing in photographs.

Myth 3: Beauty has an age limit

Similar to the negative voices about weight, a lot of people believe there is an expiration date on looking amazing in photographs. Untrue! Many of our clients are in their 40s, 50s and beyond, and look jaw-droppingly gorgeous.

In fact, the fastest growing age bracket for boudoir is 35+, according to the Professional Photographers of America.

Myth 4: You have to be comfortable in your body

This may seem backwards if you are nervous to be in front of the camera, but a boudoir session may improve your confidence and body image, according to researchers.

But we don’t need scientists to tell us, we see it each and every session. To watch a woman realize her beauty is powerful.

Myth 5: You have to wear lingerie

Boudoir is a mood, it’s not about lingerie (unless you want to be!). At our studio, we encourage 5-6 different looks, so clients can play different styles and looks. We use fabrics, lingerie, dresses, jeans, and even old flannels can look amazing in the right set.

What you wear is important, which is why every session has a separate styling appointment. We take care of everything.
