Boudoir photography isn’t just about soft lighting and lace—it’s a playground to express yourself.
What is edgy boudoir? That might mean something different for each and every client. For some, it’s black and white. Others will want to incorporate props and textures.
It’s all about blending style and personality to create photographs that feel both personal and powerful.
Edgy boudoir is a chance to step out of the ordinary. It’s a chance to explore another side of yourself!

A WHITE ROPE
One of our favorite props in the studio is a white rope. The texture and color is powerful on black and white.
If you are able, think about artistic knots or simple wraps that highlight your pose.
It’s not just about the rope—it’s about the shapes and lines it creates, adding depth to your photos.

FISHNETS
Fishnets are a fun way to bring something extra to your boudoir session, and at our studio, we love using wide-net fishnets. They add bold texture to your photos, making each shot stand out.
The larger netting creates cool patterns on your skin, especially in black and white.
Wide-net fishnets also work great as a layering piece over lingerie or on their own, depending on the shot.
Want to play with props? Wrap the fishnets around a hand, stretch them slightly, or let them fall naturally to give your poses an edge.

LEATHER LINGERIE
Leather lingerie is a simple way to add an edge to your boudoir photos. It doesn’t have to be over-the-top—even a small leather piece can make a big impact.
A leather bralette, corset, or harness can instantly bring texture and personality.
Sometimes, it’s not about wearing full leather but using it as a detail. A leather strap, belt, or cuff can add texture and depth to your photos. Pair it with lace or satin to soften the look.
The best part? Leather works on everyone.
USE PROPS FOR EDGY BOUDOIR
Props can add edge to your boudoir session, and we love it when they’re used in subtle ways.
The trick is to tie the prop into the pose and scene, so it improves the shot without taking over. When it doubt, look at the scene and ask if it looks natural.
Think about simple props like a crop or leather belt.
You can wrap them around your hands, drape them over your shoulders, or hold them lightly to create interesting lines and textures.
The trick is to let the prop add a little edge while keeping the focus on you. It’s all about small touches that make the photo feel fresh and dynamic without being overdone!
