BEST BOUDOIR POSES

Are you looking for boudoir photoshoot ideas?

In our studio, we have found there are poses and styles that look beautiful and flattering on most women.

When planning a boudoir shoot, experiment with different poses, styles and colors, because you might be surprised by which are your favorite photographs!

In our boudoir sessions, we begin with a styling appointment.

This is where we discuss what poses and sets will work best for you. Every woman can look beautiful in boudoir photography, no matter your age or size.

But like any great piece of art, it’s all about coordinating the colors and style.

So, what are the best poses? Ultimately, the best poses for boudoir clients are those that make a woman feel comfortable and beautiful. But, we summed up our favorite poses below!

1  BACK AND BOOTY POSES

If you are looking to add a popular boudoir pose to your boudoir session, add the backside!

Boudoir back poses are a client favorite in our studio. Backs can be sensual, mysterious and elegant.

The trick to a flattering pose is to keep hands asymmetrical and elongate the torso. We love to use shadows and lights to highlight a woman’s curves. Or, if you prefer a romantic feel, a light and airy session is perfect for back poses.

Sometimes we throw pearls down the back.

If a client has long hair, we typically leave it down for one picture. Then, we have her pull it up into a messy bun for a quick second, more elegant pose.

We also love shooting through crystals for back poses, to give it a dreamy, bokeh blur.

Photographing the booty has so many options, we dedicated an entire blog to the booty.

2 LAYING DOWN POSE

These are the classic boudoir poses you will find on most boudoir photographers Instagram profiles. They are popular for a reason! They are flattering, sensual and romantic.

It is also a great way to slim the belly without hiding it from the camera.

If you have long hair, make sure to fan it out around your face.  These make great makeup and cleavage shots as well. You can’t go wrong when you lay down in a boudoir session!

3 BLACK AND WHITE BOUDOIR

You might think you can convert any photograph to black and white, but this may not be the best approach.

The better way to capture an amazing black and white boudoir set is to photograph it in black and white.

Wear black and white, and use a black or white background. Implied nude also makes an amazing black and white portrait.  Colors will photograph as shades of gray.

We typically do not have clients look directly at the camera for black and white photographs, since it’s about the shape, movement and wardrobe. Plus, we want to show off a client’s gorgeous eye color when we can!

For every boudoir session, we usually incorporate at least one black and white set.

4 GLAM HEADSHOT

Boudoir is a mood, it’s not about lingerie or even your body. We like to add a fashion headshot, that even our modest clients could share on social media. (However, many clients post traditional boudoir on social media as well!)

Since we still want to be sexy, flirty and fun, we will often throw a fan in the hair during our close-up portraits.  These are great for social media, online dating and wall portraits.

5 WHITE SHEETS

Every woman looks amazing in a white sheet session. We typically like to have a bold or red lip for this set. This is such a popular boudoir, we have an entire article dedicated to the topic of white sheet boudoir!

We like to play with variations of the white sheet session. You can use sheer tulle to give it a softer look.
