UNIQUE BOUDOIR IDEAS

IDEA 1: TULLE AND FABRIC

Boudoir isn’t about lingerie. If you study the old masters, the human body has been celebrated long before cameras were invented.

With cameras, you can exist in art.

Once boudoir emerged in the 1950s, it still wasn’t about lingerie. In fact, the shoot that pushed boudoir into the mainstream was a white sheet session of Marilyn Monroe see The History of White Sheet Sessions).

Monroe wore nothing at all, and was covered by a white sheet. In our studio use black, red and white satin sheets in our boudoir sessions.

Another amazing fabric is tulle. Tulle is transparent, soft and provides movement if used with wind.

IDEA 2: ANGEL WINGS

There is a reason that Victoria Secret used angel wings as their signature look for so many years.

Angel wings are sexy, yet still sweet. Angel wings are different from what you would ever wear out or at home. That makes them unique, and fun.

Best of all — you can wear angel wings with literally anything. If you are more modest, pair them with jeans or a dress.

Do you want to be sexier? A piece of lingerie is a safe bet!

The best part? Angel wings can show off only the curves you love, and cover the ones you would rather not embrace.

IDEA 3: SPECIAL EFFECTS IN PHOTOSHOP

Remember, boudoir is what you make it.  You are only limited by your imagination.

At our studio, we have a special session for Witchy Magic during the Halloween session and a dreamy snowy portrait scene in the winter.

IDEA 4: FUN POSES

Think outside the box with posing!

Have you been practicing your headstands in Yoga?

The handstand makes a cute and different boudoir pose that is also flattering to the figure.

Even upside down, best practices for posting still apply.  Create triangles, point the toes and elongate the torso.

IDEA 5: JERSEYS AND SHIRTS

A unique boudoir idea is to wear shirts or a sports jersey!  Show love for your favorite team.

Are you doing a bridal boudoir? Bring the shirt he wore on your first date.

Even an old flannel, if it has meaning, can look amazing.

IDEA 6: TALL AND COZY SOCKS

Tall socks are an unassuming boudoir outfit in our studio.

Socks are also a subtle way to personalize a boudoir shoot.

Are you celebrating a milestone birthday? Wear socks with your age. Or use another number special to you.

Get creative! Some ideas we have used in the studio are golf socks, dance leggings, cozy fall socks and socks paired with a cozy sweater.
